I don’t know who needs to hear this,
but you don’t have to get it all together today.
You can forget the email.
Lose your to-do list under a laundry pile.
Eat pancakes at 2pm just because the batter was calling you by name.
You can have a full, messy heart
and still pause to watch how the curtains flutter like ghosts with good gossip.
This week I fell in love with:
A half-melted ice cube making its last stand in a glass of lemonade
A chicken who looked like he knew something I didn’t
The way strangers laugh like family when the sun is low and the music’s just right
A pair of jeans that finally gave up and softened around my thighs like yes, queen, live your life
A nap I didn’t mean to take but absolutely needed
A friend who said “same” before I even finished the sentence
The smell of tomatoes on the vine… green and alive and waiting for me in the green house
The moon rising behind a cloud like she had stage fright
My own breath, deep and quiet and still here
The way joy sometimes sneaks in when I’m not paying attention
And him…
I fell a little deeper in love with my soulmate this week
as he blooms into his own becoming
and relaxes into his greatness.
Here’s the secret:
You don’t have to earn your softness.
You don’t have to earn your joy.
You don’t have to explain your rest.
You are allowed to live in the in-between
the undone, the unbecoming, the unfolding.
You are allowed to float sometimes.
To disappear into the sky and come back a little more you.
Your Turn
What held you this week when you forgot how to hold yourself?
Reply here or just write it down and tuck it in your pocket.
Let it be enough.
Always Scribbling,
💛
J.
I love the image of curtains fluttering like ghosts with good gossip! Really an exquisite image!
